Wedding Planning: Venue + Dress Update

Hey guys! This has been highly requested & I can’t wait to share an update on wedding planning!

Our Venue

Justin & I have been engaged for over a year and a half. That seems like forever but time has gone by so fast. Honestly, we definitely needed that time with all of our transitions. Our date is 10/10/2020 & we will be getting married in Madison, MS (close to Jackson if you are familiar). Picking our date + venue was one of the first things we did. I have always dreamed of a fall wedding & knew this would be a perfect time to plan. So many factors came into play when booking our venue. Where would we tie the knot? My family is mainly in the Memphis & Nashville area. Justin has family in about 3-4 different states. Needless to say this was a tricky decision lol.

We ended up choosing a venue exactly in the middle of the MS Gulf Coast + Memphis, Tennessee to make it fair. We only looked at one venue & knew INSTANTLY that it was the one as soon as we pulled up. I’ve always been the type to keep my options open but when you know… you know. We ended up booking at the beginning of last year (January 2019) so we could get on the calendar. Bridlewood of Madison is our DREAM VENUE & we are so thrilled for October. I took a few photos while we were there ( they were setting up for a wedding ) + some off of their website.

Saying YES to the Dress

The day every girl dreams. After saving endless dresses to my Pinterest board + and watching “Say YES to the Dress” on TLC, the day was finally here! My family had been decorating their hotel room all morning before the appointment & decided to surprise me with champagne and cute little cupcakes before!

Where I booked my Appointment

They say to pick out your dress 8-10 months before to have enough time for alterations, shipments, etc. December 14th I found my dress! I obviously WILL NOT SHOW IT ON HERE…. sorry Justin if you’re reading this but I have decided to show you my 3rd runner up so you guys don’t get any hints hehe. I booked my appointment at Elle James Bridal in Ridgeland, MS & it truly was the best decision. They were SO SWEET & HELPFUL & you could tell they wanted me to find my dream dress just as much as I did. Here are the list of designers at Elle James (price ranges on their website):

So many beautiful gowns to choose from & the day couldn’t have gone more perfectly than it did. I was so thankful to have my family there during this special time + all of my loved ones! I brought my mom, two grandmothers, my aunt, maid of honor, & one of my bridesmaids (both are my best friends).

Trying On Dresses

If I remember correctly I probably tried on 7-8 dresses before realizing the one. I sort of had a feeling when I put the dress on that it was the one but I tried on a few others just incase. The second time I put it on tears were flowing from everyone in the room and I ended up saying “yes to the dress”! It was the best feeling in the world & I can’t wait to wear it on my wedding day. NOW THE PHOTOS I AM SHOWING YOU BELOW – THIS IS NOT THE ONE but I figured I would probably write a blog post about my experience, so we snapped a few photos.

This was so fun writing! I can’t wait to write more wedding related content for you guys!
