August already? It seems like this year is flying by. BUT, with that being said, I am looking forward to all the Fall content I have planned to share with you guys this upcoming season. Now, this blog post not only applies to those of you going back to school, but to those of you who are needing a few TIPS to stay organized.
Tip #1 Stay Motivated
I know this sounds so simple but there have been so many days where I have not been motivated. When I’m not motivated it seems like nothing goes my way, I stress over not being organized, and I can never get anything done. Podcasts have seemed to be a huge key for me when I start feeling that way. If you’ve never listened to Rachel Hollis, I suggest doing so. The first time I listened to her, the words she spoke seemed like music to my ears. If you’re on your way to class or have a free hour before work, stick those earbuds in your ear and take a listen. I can promise you after one podcast your whole outlook on life will change.
Tip #2 Create to-do lists
We tend to be forgetful and overwhelmed during the school year with all of the work we have to accomplish in a short amount of time. Trust me, I just finished college so I know exactly how that feels. I am the type of person that if I do not write something down, then there is a high chance I will forget it. Something I’ve learned when creating a to-do list for the day is that we tend to cross off the easiest tasks instead of the big ones first. DO NOT DO THIS. Start with your biggest tasks and get those taken care of because you will feel SO much better rather than procrastinating on them. I recently learned that method from one of the podcasts I listened to (linked above). Amazon has super affordable to-do notepads that I just purchased so I will link them here.
Tip #3 Purchase a planner
My favorite part of the new school year is picking out my planner. This is where you have the option to splurge or pick one up at your local target. Either way, it’s still going to help keep all your plans and to-do’s in one place. Last year, an Erin Condren Planner was on my Christmas list and I was soooo excited to receive one. This planner has honestly been my LIFE SAVER. It’s a bit of a splurge but you will keep it all year long. Along with the planner, I know what I’m about to say is so basic , but colorful highlighters are a must when writing things down I have coming up. Color-coding is a great technique to keep up with your daily life and it puts a lot of fun into it.
Tip #4 Set Short-term & Long-term Goals
I wish I had done this in college, but set realistic goals of things you want to accomplish over the next few days, weeks, and months. You also need to set big goals you want to have for yourself in the future. Setting goals can make you want to work harder to achieve them. Now that I am running my own business, setting goals for myself is a must. Like what do you want to accomplish a day from now? a week? a month?
