Kauai Travel Diary

I have been so anxious to write this blog post ever since we arrived to Kauai. This was my third time to Hawaii but my second to the island of Kauai. Our first time we went to Maui and I fell in love with all of the scenery, but as soon as I got to Kauai I was stunned at how much more relaxation it gave me!

Where we stayed:

We stayed at the Marriott Waiohai Beach Club in Poipu Beach on Kauai. This resort is for Marriott vacation club members but you can rent out units through the owners like on VRBO etc. They call Kauai the “Garden Island” & the name is just how it sounds. The resort is surrounded by so much greenery and beautiful landscape. My grandparents have been coming here for years and this is their favorite place to stay on the island. The sunset views are endless and you can chill either in the pool, on the beach or right by the bar to get a glimpse. The walkways were lit with tiki torches every night which made is so romantic & pretty! The customer service was fantastic and everyone was so helpful with recommendations.

Our Favorite Food Hotspots:

Breakfast:

Justin & I were super bad about eating breakfast out every morning, but there were so many great places we wanted to try. Our top breakfasts places were Anuenue Cafe & Little Fish Coffee Poipu. If you want to go & sit down to eat breakfast with a server , Anuenue Cafe is your #1 choice! We had amazing french toast, eggs, bacon & banana pancakes there. You guys know I love my coffee too, & they make their coffee on the island! So delicious! Also, if you want to do a little morning shopping there are plenty of shops surrounding the restaurant along with the Kauai Juice Company.

Our second hotspot for breakfast was Little Fish Coffee. We lived here almost every day lol. They had a variety of different coffees, smoothies, and breakfast bites (bagels, acai bowls, etc.). Justin ordered the “banana-pineapple smoothie” every time we went and y’all it was the best thing ever! Of course I ordered iced coffee most days.

Lunch:

I think my entire family would say our favorite lunch spot was the Honu bar on the resort during happy hour. This was super convenient for us because it sat right above the beach and next to the pool. All the Blue Hawaiin’s & Mai Tai’s for us! The quesadillas & grilled teriyaki chicken with rice was so yummy. Oh & let’s not forget about our favorite meal, the garlic fries lol. We would get them for $5 during happy hour and they gave you sooooo many so it was plenty for both of us to munch off of. We split a lot of food on this trip just because of how much food they gave you! But be careful .. the chickens running around might grab your food if you’re not looking! YES chickens run around all on this island. It’s absolutely hysterical.

Snack:

When we wanted to just grab a quick snack, we would turn to the fruit we had from the farmer’s market or take a quick 5 min drive to get a snocone. Also, one late night we were soooo hungry and craving a burger so we went to this place called Bubba’s Burgers and OMG the teriyaki burger was the best thing I’ve ever had in my entire life. I am not exaggerating! It was in a shopping center right by our resort. In the same shopping center, a great ice-cream place we went to was called Lappert’s. They served some of the best cookie-dough ice cream and a great view to watch the sunset.

Dinner:

Now this was our favorite food time of the day! Kauai offers so many great dinner hot spots. The first night we arrived, we ate at the Honu bar on the resort and watched the sunset because it was basically 1 am our time so we were completely exhausted. The second night we went to one of my top restaurants in Kauai called “Brennecke’s Beach Broiler” which is literally a 5 min drive from our resort. This is a wonderful place to watch the sunset as well as grab what they call the “World’s Most Famous Mai Tai”. We had the macadamia nut crust Mahi-Mahi and it was just as good as the last time I visited Kauai. Also right next door is the snocone place I previously mentioned. My all time favorite & of course the most $$$ was called The Beach House. It was the best meal on the trip. Although it was super pricey, the food, view, and margarita made up for it. Since my grandparents were so kind to take us on this trip for my college graduation, we decided to take them out to dinner at this beautiful place. You can see how gorgeous it was with the pictures below!

Our last night we went to “Keoki’s Paradise“. This was one of my personal favorites on our last trip so it was a must to go back. The atmosphere is wonderful and so pretty. They also have live music at night. If you do not have “Hula Pie” when you’re in Hawaii then you are missing out! Some of the best pie in the world! Luckily for us, the driving was minimal unless we were exploring so all of these restaurants were within a 3 mile radius.

What we did in Kauai:

Jeep tours of course!

We spent a lot of days driving around in the Jeep and going sight seeing through Kauai. I think this was one of the most amazing things we did! Kauai offers so many gorgeous picture opportunities and riding around with the top off was just the cherry on top to our vacation.

Napali Coast Sunset Dinner

Now this was absolutely amazing besides the fact that I was sea sick the entire time (never puked once just nauseous). I didn’t think I would get like that but I was so wrong! The beautiful scenery of the Napali Coast made up for it though. If any if you have the chance to go on a non-rough day, DO IT! You honestly feel like you are in a movie.

Relaxed at the pool & beach

Almost everyday we were either by the pool lounging or on the beach. This is one of my favorite relaxing things to do and the sun opportunities were just endless. The forecast said rain almost everyday when we were there, and not one time do I remember it pouring. God was very good to us this trip!

So Kauai was incredible. I will make another blog post with all of my outfit links and what I wore to where! I can’t wait to go back. If you have any questions about Kauai, I would be happy to answer them!
