5 Tips to Stay Motivated in 2019

New Years resolutions can be really hard to stick to. I can’t tell you how many I’ve broken over the past few years. Some days I have no motivation to go to the gym and I’d rather be at home drinking sweet tea or eating chips & queso. Don’t we all have those days? Motivation can be a real challenge. But it’s time to sit back and relax because I am about to share with you a few tips and tricks I’ve learned to stay motivated that will help you stick to your New Years resolutions.

1.Plan

Planning is a huge priority of mine. I don’t mean planning your whole life out but planning your days & weeks. If you’re like me and forget things a lot, then writing down is a MUST. Justin laughs because I have around 6 planners or notebooks I go through in a year. I LOVE TO WRITE. Whether it be recipes for certain days, workouts for the week, or even outfits & blog posts, I have found it so much easier if I take one day out of the week and plan everything out for the next. If you’re trying to be healthier, this can help reverse the fast food cravings as well as avoidance of the gym. I always feel less anxious if everything is in writing

2. Consistency 

Being consistent with your routines can help you maximize your motivation. Recently, I started going to Orange Theory everyday of the week. (If you don’t know what that is, I will do an entire blog post in the near future!) My motivation was the highest at the end of the week because of how many classes I had been to and to think how silly it sounds I definitely saw progression after one week of going consistently. Also, one of the hardest things for me is cutting out the sodas and sweet tea. Not much for the sodas but sweet tea…. now for all my southern girls you know how I feel lol. Consistency is key!

3. Look for Inspiration

Finding inspiration is something I love to do. My main sources are Pinterest & Instagram. I have been able to find so many insights on fitness, meals, picture ideas for blog posts and plenty of outfit inspiration. Countdowns seem to be a motivation for me as well whether it be a certain day or a very dun trip you are looking forward to. I find it really fun & motivating to see others ideas or certain ways how they do things. With that being said, set a goal for yourself and use whatever inspiration that is to help yourself succeed in that area.

4. Stop Comparing

On a day-to-day basis I know a lot of you have experienced the comparison game, especially on social media. It’s so easy these days to find ourselves comparing our lives to one another due to everyones posts. Believe me, I have been there. By doing that, you can give yourself an unhealthy lifestyle and cause a lot of unhappiness in your life. Be happy with yourself. God has a different plan for everyone & if you haven’t hit that milestone in your life that you want, maybe it’s just not the RIGHT time. Everyone grows and succeeds differently, so stop comparing & be happy from within! That’s what will be the most rewarding.

5. Don’t Stop Believing

I might or might not be using a “JOURNEY” reference but it’s totally true. DON’T STOP BELIEVING. This can be your dreams, your fitness goals, or just in general.. a better you! Staying motivated requires a lot of things but this has to be my top one. I’ve always been the type to chase my dreams even if they are unrealistic. Having short-term goals can also lead to better long-term goals. Believing in yourself is a priority in life because if not you are going to find yourself years later wondering where all the time went.
